This summer, ANMT has undertaken  an ambitious  schedule of programming.  If you’re a theatre lover, or a creator of theatrical material, this means that great opportunities abound.

• 38 Days of New Musicals at the NoHo Arts Center this summer features 38 days of productions, workshops, concerts, and conferences all celebrating new musicals! July 16 through August 22.     The summer starts off with:
  • “40 is the New 15″ – our full scale production of the hit show we presented as a workshop last Summer., Opening July 16th, at 8:00 pm., and
  • “Aging Out” – a brand new musical workshop production Opens Wed. July 21
• Musical Theatre Summer Bootcamp Crash courses for writers, actors, and producers.  Runs July 11 through Aug. 22.
• Biz of the Musical Theatre Biz Conference features producers, directors, artistic directors, writers, agents, union reps, marketers, all talking about getting musicals produced.  Runs July 23-25
• Biz of the Musical Theatre Biz Conference for Actors August 6-8

In California, articles of Incorporation and/or organization can be filed after December 18th, with no minimum tax due for 2009 (and sometimes for 2010, also). PRODUCER’S PERSPECTIVE: 2 Things To Do If You Want To Be A Broadway Producer.
The esssence of Ken’s tips:  Produce stuff… lots of stuff, no matter how small… you’ll learn from the experience, and meet lots of people… network, network, network.

What’s really interesting about this is that the EXACT SAME ADVICE applies to succeeding in almost any field of endeavor.

What it boils down to is this:  If you want to do something.. just do it, over and over and over, and pretty soon, you’ll be proficient at it, an expert, a professional.

The other part is that you can’t do it alone… you’ll need help, colleagues, vendors, financing, etc.  Meeting lots of folks is the only way to get where you’re going.  Building a network is simple.  Meet people, make them your friends, and help them when you can.  They’ll do the same, and before you know it… you’re succeeding!

Some server problems have knocked us off the air, and next week, I’ll be in Hawaii. Once I return, though, we’ll be back in the swing of things with live calls and emailed Q and A.
